New medicinal cannabis company to create 100 jobs in Taupō

A Taupo based medicinal cannabis company has been given the green light to set up its operation, which has created 100 jobs.

SETEK Therapeutics will be set up in Taupō later this year. They are now the fourth company that the Ministry of Health has granted a license to cultivate cannabis plants.

They are only the second to receive permission to grow high THC cultivars for research in what is expected to be an $11 billion medical cannabis industry by 2022.
