Psychoactive substances are chemicals or combinations of chemicals that exert a pychoactive effect on the central nervous system. In New Zealand the legal definition of Psychoactive Substance excludes dietary supplements, foods, herbal remedies and medicines. Therefore our Psychoactive Substances catergory focuses on providing acurate harm reduction info on synthetic psychoactive chemicals. This includes classic semi-synthetic (LSD, Heroin) or synthetic psychoactive substances (Ketamine, MDMA), as well as research chemicals (BZP, 2C-B) or what were formally known as legal highs (Spice, K2, Party Pills, Bath salts). For comparison, while not considered psychoactive substances under the legal definition in NZ, we will also cover legal psychoactive substances (Alcohol, Caffeine, Nicotine).
