Calea zacatechichi is a plant used by the Chiapas and Chontal Indians of Mexico to obtain divinatory messages during dreaming. The Chontal Indians, who believe in visions seen in dreams, take tea of Calea zacatechichi with crushed dried leaves or smoke cigarettes from the leaves before going to sleep. The Chontal Shaman call it "thepelakano" or leaves of god. This traditional application of the herb has been studied, and dreamers report more intense and explicit dreams.

Calea is also employed by the Chontal people as a herbal remedy against gastrointestinal disorders, and is used as an appetizer, cathartic, anti-dysentery remedy, and as a fever-reducing agent.

Calea is also an excellent natural sleep aid, and can be of great benefit to people who experience insomnia. Calea promotes relaxation and may help fight anxiety.

Usage: Smoke a joint or use in a herbal vaporizer @ 185°C to 200°C (365°F to 392°F) one hour before going to sleep. You can also place a pinch of this herbal remedy inside a dream pillow. This pillow is then placed under your normal pillow before going to sleep. Can also be used as a tea (3-25 grams) but the taste is extremely bitter.

Warning: Not intended for internal consumption. Always obtain clearance from your doctor before using this herbal remedy.
