Description: Guarana (pronounced gwa-ra-naa) is a berry that grows in Venezuela and the northern parts of Brazil. The name 'Guarana' comes from the Guarani tribe that lives in Brazil.

Ethnobotanical History: In Brazil, Guarana is used to quicken perception, delay sleep, help with endurance based activities, to recover from a hangover and to impair the appetite.

Active Constituents: Caffeine (more than 2X the amount as coffee beans), theophylline, theobromine and antioxidants.

Usage: Mix with hot water and/or milk to make a hot drink. Add Stevia or honey to taste. Can also be added to smoothies or yogurt.
