Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) Organic

Valerian (Valeriana officinalis, Valerianaceae) is a hardy perennial flowering plant, with heads of sweetly scented pink or white flowers. Native to Europe and parts of Asia, Valerian has been used in the traditional medicine of many cultures as a sedative, a tranquilizer and to aid the induction of sleep. It was known to Dioscorides ( A.D. 41-68 ), in ancient Rome and has been used since that time.

Valerian is often claimed to gives a calm, relaxing effect that some users describe as the sensation of floating on air. Valerian is often referred to as nature's Valium, however unlike benzos, Valerian is non-addictive.

Usage:  Place 15 grams Valerian in a saucepan and cover with 1/2 liter boiling water. Cover and leave to simmer on a low heat for 20 minutes. Strain and serve with honey. Valerian can be combined with Kava, Hops or Passion Flower to create a stronger effect.
