Sometimes sold as "White rock opium", Myrrh was the most popular pain reliever before the discovery of opium and includes at least two compounds with an affinity for delta opiate receptors. It was traditionally consumed in wine. The scent of burning myrrh resin is a strong, woody aroma, unlike the sweet modern incenses that we are accustomed to. Myrrh resin can be used on its own or burnt with frankincense.

Active Constituents: Furanoeudesma-1,3-diene and another terpene.
