Cider gum got it name due to the fact it was used by first nation Australians to brew an intoxicating cider like beverage. This was done by cutting the trunk and simply allowing the rain water to collect and ferment in the trunk. The brew was said to be extremely intoxicating. The sap has a sweet taste and can be obtained by wounding the bark. Also used for timber, shelter and as an ornamental.

Cultivation: Seed germinates without pre-treatment but a month of cold stratification will speed up and even out germination. Extremely tolerant tree, grows in most conditions.
